Problem

Chemistry already intimidates people. The old site added to it: vague on qualifications, dense where it needed to reassure, and unclear about how tutoring actually works or how to start.

Solution

A calm landing page that moves from reassurance to information to action, with a comparison structure that lets students and parents choose a lesson format without decoding paragraphs.

Outcome

During the measured post-launch period, visitor engagement increased by 50%, and direct booking cut the time Kristin spent coordinating sessions by hand.

Overview

Kristin Watson needed a landing page that presented her tutoring with more clarity and confidence. I built a calm experience that helps students and parents understand the service, compare lesson formats, build trust, and schedule a session.

Challenge & Constraints

Chemistry is intimidating before anyone reaches the site, so the page could not add friction through vague descriptions or an unclear scheduling process. It also had to serve two related audiences: students looking for understandable support, and parents evaluating credibility, pricing, and value.

Discovery

I reviewed tutoring and educational services to see how they organise credentials, teaching formats, pricing, testimonials, and scheduling. The content priorities came out clearly: establish qualifications, explain how tutoring works, make options comparable, show evidence it works, and keep booking low-friction.

Strategy

Structure the page around reassurance, then choice. Kristin's introduction and teaching philosophy build trust, lesson plans clarify the offer, testimonials supply proof, and booking converts interest into a scheduled session. A comparison structure lets people choose a format without reading paragraphs to decode the difference.

Design & Execution

Blue establishes trust and focus; yellow adds warmth and pulls attention toward actions. Type stays clean and highly readable, with heavier display treatments held back for key messages. Geometric motifs reference structure and formulas without turning the page into a science-themed novelty.

Motion & Prototype

Motion stays restrained to match the calm tone: section reveals, hover feedback, and booking transitions that explain what changed and where to go next. The prototype covered the primary path from landing through lesson comparison and proof to scheduling, built responsively in Webflow.

Launch & Outcome

During the measured post-launch period, visitor engagement increased by 50%, with more students booking directly through the page. Scheduling in-flow reduced the manual back-and-forth that had been eating Kristin's time.

Reflection

Educational design has to build emotional confidence as well as functional clarity. The decisions that mattered were not decorative: they made the service easier to understand, the options easier to compare, and the next step easier to take.
